How do I become a Celebrant?

Celebrant Training Academy Scotland runs a bespoke 121 flexible online certificated training course leading to successful students graduating with a ‘Certificate in Funeral Celebrancy’, a qualification that is recognised and respected by all Funeral Directors. The cost of this course is £1250. We also provide a 1 day classroom based Wedding Celebrant Training Course 3 times per year (the cost of this course is £495 or £395 for those who are undergoing our Funeral Celebrant Training Course)

What does the Funeral Celebrant Training Course course cover?

The course will cover every aspect of the profession and equip you with every tool, tip and technique you need to be a competent Celebrant.

What happens after the training, is there on-going support?

Our training course does not ‘abandon’ you after Graduation and there is follow up support. There will be an opportunity to spend time with Neil to shadow a Funeral Service and further coaching and telephone support for the remainder of your professional career.  You will also be awarded our Celebrant Seal to display on your promotional materials and a wealth of post course reference material.

What are your skills as a trainer?

Neil  and Annie have been running  training in Scotland and the UK for over 12 years and have trained a substantial number of the UK’s most respected Celebrants.

Neil is the course founder and is joined by the Principal of the Celebrant Training Academy Annie Scrimgeour, a professional degree qualified Counsellor, Professional Educator and published Academic Theorist, who will be on hand to help you with any pastoral  and emotional support you may require during the training course.  Annie is also our lead online Tutor and will guide you and encourage you all the way through the course.

Annie and Neil are the most experienced Scottish training providers and have a unique insight into how the profession operates in Scotland.  Many training courses are an “IQ” experience, a course book you work through; things you learn. While you will undoubtedly learn a lot on this type of training course, we assure you that training with us will be just a little bit different! you will be invited to connect to emotional intelligence and the deeper skills needed to connect to people’s hearts at a funeral, and will be supported and encouraged all the way 121 by your Tutor Annie.  It is the only training course in the UK that incorporates the necessity for emotional intelligence.

Neil was one of the first Funeral Celebrants in the UK and has been doing the job for 17 years and Annie will pass on all of his invaluable insights and learning experiences to you.  He is one of a handful of people in the UK to be awarded a Diploma in Funeral Celebrancy by the International College of Celebrancy (Australia) and even wrote the first book on the subject of civil Funeral called “The Guide to a Dead Brilliant Funeral Speech”
